纳米小精灵这本书很薄,但是内容很精彩!里面有好多的问题:纳米水、纳米股、纳米家电、纳米武器…………纳米究竟是什么东西?它到底有些什么奥妙?为什么科学家单单对纳米那么在意?物质在纳米范围内会出现什么特别的性质?纳米时代真的快要到来了吗?纳米科技是否也存在某种隐患呢?因此我对纳米这个小精灵深感好奇,于是我就带着这些问题翻开这本小册子,走进纳米世界。这篇文章里写了一些纳米的技术应用,中国科学院化学所的专家研制成功新型纳米材料——超双疏水性界面材料,它应用于建筑物面,可以防雾、防霜,更免去了人工清洗。白色污染也遭到了“纳米”的有力挑战,科学家将可降解的淀粉盒不可降解的塑料通过特殊研制的设备粉碎至“纳米级”后,进行物理结合,用这种新型原料,可生产出,“纳米服装”不会挥发、不溶水,持久保持防辐射能力。农用地膜、一次性餐具和各种包装袋。现在我们发明了纳米技术的高效防辐射服装 。 这本书的作者叫做韩王荣,华东师范大学物理学和自然科学史专业毕业,曾被评为“上海市优秀科普作家”,1985年开始科技写作,至今出版了《数字地球》、《信息高速公路》、《克隆问答101》、《做好一个城市人》、《20世纪,谁教会了我们行走》、《万能信息》等20多种书籍。译著有《它们也思考》,主编的《当代科技》被选为全日制普通高中选修课课本,《多利,你好》曾获得“上海市科普优秀作品”奖。 我读了这本书之后,我觉得纳米技术对人类有很大的益处,我们要好好的运用它,发明出更多对人类有用的东西。!所以我们要认真对待学习、认真对待科学的发展!让我们的祖国更加繁荣!

The Tiniest Electric Motor in the World
Scientists recently made public the tiniest electric motor ever built. You could stuff hundreds of them into the period at the end of this sentence. One day a similar engine might power a tiny mechanical doctor that would travel through your body to remove your disease.
The motor works by shuffling atoms between two molten metal droplets in a carbon nanotube. One droplet is even smaller than the other. When a small electric current is applied to the droplets, atoms slowly get out of the larger droplet and join the smaller one. The small droplet grows – but never gets as big as the other droplet – and eventually bumps into the large droplet. As they touch, the large droplet rapidly sops up the atoms it had previously lost. This quick shift in energy produces a power stroke. The technique exploits the fact that surface tension -- the tendency of atoms or molecules to resist separating -- becomes more important at small scales. Surface tension is the same thing that allows some insects to walk on water.
Although the amount of energy produced is small -- 20 microwatts -- it is quite impressive in relation to the tiny scale of the motor. The whole setup is less than 200 nanometers on a side, or hundreds of times smaller than the width of a human hair. If it could be scaled up to the size of an automobile engine, it would be 100 million times more powerful than a Toyota Camry’s 225 horsepower V6 engine. In 1988, Professor Richard Muller and colleagues made the first operating micromotor, which was 100 microns across, or about the thickness of a human hair. In 2003, Zettl's group created the first nanoscale motor. In 2006, they built a nanoconveyor, which moves tiny particles along like cars in a factory.
Nanotechnology engineers try to mimic nature, building things atom-by-atom. Among other things, nanomotors could be used in optical circuits to redirect light, a process called optical switching. Futurists envision a day when nanomachines, powered by nanomotors, travel inside your body to find disease and repair damaged cells.

Nanoscience investigates products that can benefit us, such as some advanced medicine and new way to cure fatal disease. There are Centers for Nano Science and Technology in every country. It shows us that people are really pay attention on the developing of nanotechnology. More and more people trend to do experiments and testing the new product which made by nanotechnology, sometimes they fail, however, there are several products are accepted by scientist. There are groups of people that willing to accept the testing of new product, such as the technique that expected to cure the cancer.
Apart from the health problems, nanotechnology had also benefited our food aspect. People learn nanotechnology between countries; nations feel proud that they had advanced nanotechnology. The nanotechnology has been used in the machining, packing and testing of food, there are also some machines that related manufacture of food are made by nanotechnology. The advantage of it is the quality of food will be better; most germs can be avoided by the strict seal. Human had lessened disease from this new technology.
In conclusion, the developing of nanotechnology is worth to be publicizing, more investigative and experiment give us more hope in the future, I believe that in 30 years from now, the issue of health and food will be improved by nanotechnology. We can see that there are more and more medicine appear and the food we eat has also been ameliorated. We can compare the condition of now with before; it can be see clearly that our life has been improved a lot by advanced technology. To the nanotechnology, it must be helpful and play an important role in better our life.
